Simon West Fine Jewellery Unveils The Liberty Collection: A Tribute to Fontana del Moro

Simon West Fine Jewellery Unveils The Liberty Collection: A Tribute to Fontana del Moro

On the afternoon of October 31, Simon West Fine Jewellery held the much-anticipated launch of the Liberty Collection, an exquisite range of jewellery inspired by the historic Fontana del Moro in Rome.

This collection marks a significant expansion from the much-loved Liberty Ring, designed by Simon West himself back in 2012, which has since become an iconic piece among his clientele.

Inspiration from Rome to Melbourne

The Liberty Collection's roots trace back to a trip Simon West took in 2000-2001 to Rome, where he encountered the majestic Fontana del Moro.

Located at the southern end of the Piazza Navona, this fountain is not just a marvel of Baroque art but a centrepiece of inspiration for artists and designers alike.

Its distinctive shape and artistic detail captured Simon’s imagination, laying the groundwork for what would eventually become a key design element in his jewellery.

Simon recalls the moment of inspiration: “I was blown away, inspired by the shape of the fountain. And I saw that same shape repeated through Europe, in old towns.”

This recurring design left an impression Simon, and led to the creation of the Liberty Ring, a piece that resonated deeply with his clients for its unique contour and the story it embodied.

The Liberty Collection: A Fusion of Art and Jewellery

Fast forward to 2024, and the Liberty Collection brings this vision full circle.

The collection includes rings, earrings, pendants, and bracelets, each piece echoing the fluid, elegant lines of the Fontana del Moro.

Crafted in various colours of metals and adorned with emeralds, diamonds, and sapphires, the collection offers something uniquely beautiful for every jewellery lover.

The launch event, held in Simon West Fine Jewellery’s Collins Street showroom showcased all the pieces in a single display case.

The connection between the pieces and the Liberty Ring was evident, highlighting a cohesive aesthetic that bridges Simon West’s past designs with his current creations.

For those who could not attend the launch, the Liberty Collection is not just an exhibit but an ongoing invitation to explore Simon West’s artistic journey.

Interested buyers and jewellery enthusiasts are encouraged to make an appointment to view the collection in person at the Simon West Fine Jewellery showroom.
